Powell Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:POWL) designs, manufactures and services custom-engineered equipment and systems for the distribution, control and monitoring of electrical energy in voltages ranging from 480 volts to 38,000 volts; principal products include integrated power control room substations, custom-engineered modules, electrical houses (E-Houses), traditional and arc-resistant distribution switchgear and control gear, medium-voltage circuit breakers, monitoring and control communications systems, motor control centers, switches, bus duct systems, power management and control systems, and field services such as inspection, installation, commissioning, modification and repair. The company, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, primarily serves oil and gas (including refining, offshore production, LNG facilities, pipelines and petrochemical plants), electric utilities, light rail traction power, mining, pulp and paper, data centers, renewable energy, commercial and industrial markets, as well as universities and government entities, with operations centered in the United States and select international exposure. In recent developments, Powell completed the acquisition of U.K.-based Remsdaq Ltd. in fiscal 2025 to enhance its electrical automation and SCADA capabilities for substations; announced a $12.4 million expansion of its Jacintoport manufacturing facility in Houston in August 2025 to support LNG-driven oil and gas demand, bringing cumulative investments across Houston sites to nearly $40 million; and reported record fiscal 2025 results with $1.2 billion in new orders, a $1.4 billion backlog and net income growth amid strong execution in utilities and offshore modules.
